Blaze erupts above country singer Kacey Musgraves mid-performance

Fans caught the moment a small blaze broke out above Kacey Musgraves in the middle of a concert yesterday and slowly burned through part of her stage setup.

The country singer was performing Golden Hour under a shower of intentional sparks when a section of the rigging above the stage caught fire.

Fans could be heard screaming about the fire, trying to warn Musgraves, 38, and her team.

“That looks bad. Genuinely, something is on fire,” the singer told the crowd when she noticed the blaze.

Footage from the concert in Boston, US, appeared to show a wire attached to lights high above the stage burning steadily.

That section of lighting appeared to have been turned off as a safety precaution.

“I have way too much hairspray to be standing under that shit,” Musgraves quipped as the flames continued to lick at the stage.

“What do we do about that?”

Musgraves moved across the stage to avoid standing under the flames, which were making her understandably “anxious”.

“I only like pyro[technics] when I know what the hell’s going to happen. Anyway, does anyone have a bedazzled fire extinguisher anywhere?” she asked the crowd.

No injuries or additional damage was reported, and fans who attended the show said “everything was fine”.

On the same night, Musgraves performed a stirring tribute to late country legend Dolly Parton, who died last week after a brief battle with cancer.

Musgraves sang Here You Come Again, Parton’s 1977 hit ballad, in her honour and dedicated her own track Rainbow to Parton as well.

Parton died on August 26, aged 80, and was honoured with a small funeral in Nashville, US, attended by friends and family.

She was remembered and celebrated by music icons all over the world in the wake of her passing, including Miley Cyrus.

“The feeling of losing my Aunt Dolly is beyond what feels right to share,” the 33-year-old started the heartfelt post. 

“Our most sacred moments were private and they’ll stay there behind the stage, beneath the glamour & between our hearts.”
