Teenage YouTuber JoJo Siwa claps back at TikTok trolls who say she dresses 'young' and 'childish'

Teenage YouTube sensation JoJo Siwa has a message for her haters.

Just because the 16-year-old singer and dancer ditched her signature bow in an April 21 video montage that went viral, doesn't mean she's ditching her vibrant style for good.

"Recently I've shown myself looking different," Siwa wrote in a TikTok video posted on April 30. "Not the classic rainbow, sparkles, and side ponytail with a JoJo bow. I've been hated on for YEARS for dressing 'young' and 'childish' — people think this is me 'changing.' LOL nope!!! I just love who I am! This is just me at night or in the morning!"

Siwa said she is staying true to herself, despite online trolls continuously telling her to grow up and act her age. Since bursting onto the scene in 2015 on the reality TV show, Dance Moms, Siwa has showcased her colourful style on TV and off — and she has no plans to change.

"I have a PSA! 'If you yell at me I'm gonna cry'... but if you hate on me I'm gonna laugh hahah!" the teenager wrote alongside her video, of course referencing her iconic quote from the show. "Thank u for the good times! love u!"

On April 26, the young star also addressed her trolls in another TikTok video, which she captioned, "When 'normal' teenagers say to me 'act your age.'" In the clip, Siwa appears confused as she mouths the words, "I ain't tryna be cool like you."

Last August, Siwa was interviewed by Time magazine where she admitted she was in no rush to grow up. After all, the internet sensation has built an empire on selling her colourful merchandise and signature bows — and she loves living and breathing her brand. To date, Siwa has sold 35 million bows worldwide.

"There will be a time when I age up. Everyone does grow up," the YouTuber — she boasts 10 million subscribers — told the publication. "I think I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. But I mean, what do people want me to do? Wear black every day?"
