When Joe Jonas first released a snippet of his latest single Work It Out, fans immediately began speculating that his upcoming album would be one of his most revealing yet.

In the song, Jonas seems to sing about the toll his 2023 divorce from Sophie Turner took on him, leading his fans to believe Music For People Who Believe In Love was going to be all about the couple's tumultuous breakup.

But Jonas has spoken out on the rumours, sharing that the speculation couldn't be further from the truth.

"I'm not trying to come for anyone on this album," the singer told Billboard in a recent interview.

"I'm not trying to put stuff on blast. I have a beautiful life that I'm grateful for. I've got two beautiful kids.

"I'm a happy person, and the music needed to resemble that – but also, the journey to get here."

Although he denied the songs on the album will focus on his divorce, Jonas did acknowledge heartbreak was the catalyst to creating a solo album.

The first song he wrote for Music For People Who Believe In Love was originally intended for the Jonas Brothers band, however when it hit a personal note, he asked his brothers – Nick and Kevin – if he could use it to explore a solo venture.

"I noticed that the song was going toward the direction of some personal stuff that I went through," he told Billboard, adding that his brothers were supportive of the idea.

"And I think, at such a crazy time in my life, I looked to music as an outlet."
