Jessica Simpson says she has no intention of watching Britney Spears documentary: 'It's like one of those triggers'

Jessica Simpson is weighing in on the Britney Spears documentary Framing Britney Spears.

The 'With You' singer, who similarly shot to fame in the early naughties, has no intention of watching the New York Times film.

"It's one of those things that if I were to watch it, like, reliving that for me it's like one of those like triggers, you know, it definitely gives me anxiety and I lived it," she said in a preview of an interview on the Tamron Hall Show.

"And I know Britney and I know what she went through and it's so hard, because it's so many people's opinions on you just trying to live your life as a normal human being because inside we're really just, you know, we are normal, you know?"

Simpson offered her own personal insight into the scrutiny that comes with being in the spotlight.

"We might have a big platform but you can only take stuff for so long, you can only, you know, allow people in and attacking you until you have to really, you know, put your guard up."

In Simpson's new memoir, Open Book, she details the frequent comparisons made between her and Spears.

On a trip to Disney World, fans mistook Simpson for the pop star.

"I was like, of course this would happen to me. Britney steals even this Disney moment, right there in front of my kids," she wrote in the book.

Spears has been at the centre of a worldwide debate amid her ongoing conservatorship battle. A New York Times documentary titled Framing Britney Spears sparked an outcry for her long-awaited freedom.
