Hilary Duff gives update on Lizzie McGuire reboot: 'That story is really exciting for me'

Hilary Duff has teased fans about what they can expect from the Lizzie McGuire reboot.

The actress, who is currently starring in Younger, announced in August that she'd be reprising her role of Lizzie in the hit series which aired from 2001-2004.

The last time we saw Lizzie she was singing with Italian pop star Isabella at the Colosseum but according to Duff the reboot won't exactly take off where the film left off.

Instead the series will centre around Lizzie living in New York as a 30-year-old millennial streaming on Disney+.

Duff told E! News that production is scheduled to begin in October and she's really excited.

"I have said this before, but for me coming back when she's 30 and she's not in a marriage and she's not having a baby and she's not doing all the things that I have already done in my life, that story is really exciting for me," she said.

Duff also said she wants to target the struggles and pressures of what a 30-year-old whom doesn't have it all figured out would be dealing with right now.

"She had those struggles in middle school where she didn't have a place where she fits in and you know... always on the struggle bus, but she's also your best friend, and that's exactly what I want to target and hit home again — is being there for girls in this time of their life." 

There's no word yet on what topics and life experiences the series will cover with Duff saying, "We want to give fans what they want, but we also want to have a completely new show."  

Here's to Lizzie living life in the big city and hopefully recreating some of her iconic outfits we saw in the original series.
