Dick Cheney's daughter slams Christian Bale for saying 'Satan' was his inspiration for playing her father in 'Vice'

Dick Cheney's daughter has hit back at Christian Bale after the actor compared her father to the devil during his Golden Globes acceptance speech.

After winning Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy for his portrayal of the former US Vice President in the movie Vice, 44-year-old Bale told the audience that he looked to Satan to help him get into the mindset of Cheney.

"Thank you to Satan for giving me inspiration on how to play this role," Bale said on stage. "[Director Adam McKay] said, 'I've got to be somebody who can be absolutely charisma-free and reviled by everybody.' So he went, 'Oh, that's got to be Bale.'"

Cheney's daughter Liz Cheney -- who is an attorney and US representative in Wyoming's congressional district -- took to Twitter to hit back at Bale's controversial comments about her 77-year-old father.

"Satan probably inspired him to do this, too," the 52-year-old tweeted along with an old article with the headline, "Christian Bale arrested for 'assault on mother and sister' | The Independent."

The alleged incident Liz was referring to occurred in 2008. At the time, it was reported that Bale had allegedly assaulted his mother and sister inside his Dorchester Hotel room in London on the eve of the European premiere of his blockbuster The Dark Knight. The actor vehemently denied the allegation.

"Christian Bale attended a London police station today, on a voluntary basis, in order to assist with an allegation that had been made against him to the police by his mother and sister," Bale's lawyers said in the statement. "Mr Bale who denies the allegation, co-operated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question, and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police. At this time, there will be no further comment by Mr Bale."

But while Liz has slammed the actor over this latest controversy, one person who will always stand by Bale is his wife of 18 years, Sibi Blazic, who oddly enough advised him that "less is more" when it came to speeches at awards shows.

"She knows the dumb crap that can come out of my mouth at times," he revealed in his acceptance speech. "I can sink and ruin a perfectly good movie and so-so career in one speech."
