Claire Knight | Presented by Stan

If you're suffering from Younger withdrawals, Stan's exclusive new series The Bold Type is the answer to your TV prayers.

Fashion, friendship and publishing collide in New York City as three ambitious pals navigate the world of women's magazines.

They're smart, motivated, sassy and totally bold (duh)... these women are The Bold Type.

Jane Sloan

Played by Katie Stevens, Jane is a gutsy 25-year-old journalist who has just been promoted to a staff writer at a glossy women's magazine called Scarlet.

She may have just landed her dream job, but instead of writing hard-hitting social and political articles, she must first master the literary art of sex positions, 'how to' guides and embarrassing personal essays.

Kat Edison

Kat (Aisha Dee) is Scarlet's social media director, and one of Jane's best friends.

Having previously identified as straight, Kat is now sorting through her newfound romantic feelings towards a woman.

She's also struggling with her own racial identity, hesitant to embrace her African-American heritage at risk of alienating her Caucasian mother.

Sutton Brady

Meghann Fahy plays Sutton, the hardest working assistant in Manhattan, and the third member of the The Bold Type trio.

While she has aspirations to work in fashion, Sutton struggles to find the confidence to see her dreams through.

She's also having an affair with an older Scarlet board member, and struggles with whether she should pursue something serious with him at the risk of jeopardising her career.

Jacqueline Carlyle

Jacqueline (Melora Hardin) is Scarlet's no-nonsense editor-in-chief, and a mentor figure to the girls.

She's the kind of power boss who leaves Beyoncé waiting on the line while she disperses advice to her underlings.

While Jacqueline isn't as scary as the likes of Meryl Streep's Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada, she clearly asserts herself as someone not to be messed with.

Adena El-Amin

Nikohl Boosheri's Adena is a self-described "proud Muslim lesbian" and a passionate artist, out to change opinions with her controversial and boundary-pushing photographic work.

Initially skeptical of Scarlet, citing it as an "unfeminist magazine", Adena soon changes her mind after befriending Kat, who persuades her to allow her profile to be printed.
