There's no Legally Blonde 3 yet, but Reese Witherspoon's new Aussie gig is very Elle Woods

On the eve of her 40^th birthday tomorrow, Reese Witherspoon has gotten a brand new gig…and it'll bring her down under.

The Oscar-winning actress will launch her first-ever speaking tour in July as headliner of the Simpatico Conference in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland.

Simpatico's goal is to inspire young women to be more ambitious, self-aware and confident, which would seem to be Reese's area of expertise. We've all seen Legally Blonde, right?

Despite her A-list credentials, Simpatico Connection managing director Jacqueline Nagle says snagging Reese to headline an event focusing on women in leadership was not merely about her star power.

"When we approached Reese, it wasn't just on the basis that she has an outstanding movie career, but it was because she's multidimensional," she tells TheFIX. "I wanted someone who wasn't just a name and not just a celebrity.

"She very real. She's been a mum. She's been divorced. She's done all of that."

She also has strong Aussie connections. One of her latest projects is the HBO TV series Big Little Lies, co-starring Aussie Nicole Kidman and based on a book by Australian writer Liane Moriarty.

Like Reese, her Lies character is a divorced mum, but we have a feeling legal mover and shaker Elle Woods is the alter ego who'd be proudest of the actress' latest move.
