Billie Eilish's older brother recalls the mortifying mistake he made in-front of Taylor Swift

We've all been guilty of making up scenarios in our head, imagining what we would say if we just happened to run into our favorite celebrity.

Usually we imagine we would keep it pretty together, having a cool, calm and collected interaction – sometimes you might even plan (in your imaginary scenario) to pretend you don't know who the star is, usually in the hopes of them falling in love with you, because who wants to marry a fan?

But the reality is, we'd probably all crumble under the pressure, forget all our (imaginary) training, and blurt out something majorly embarrassing – which is exactly what happened to one star when he met Taylor Swift.

Now, let's be honest, probably not a single person reading this article would be able to keep their cool if Taylor Swift was in front of them – let alone if they were invited to her birthday party.

So, we can't really blame Finneas O'Connell – older brother to Billie Eilish and musician in his own right – for the fact he made an embarrassing slip-up when chatting with Swift at one of her birthday shindigs.

In a new interview with The Guardian, Finneas sat down with his The Favours bandmate Ashlyn Wilson (better known as Ashe) to discuss their most "cringeworthy" celebrity run-ins.

Wilson recalled the time some liquid courage saw her strike up a conversation with Margot Robbie, but it was O'Connell's interaction with Swift that took the cake as the most "cringeworthy" of the two.

When Swift thanked O'Connell for attending her birthday party, the musician made an embarrassing but all-too-common mistake – he blurted out the first response that felt appropriate.

"I said thanks for coming to Taylor Swift. At her birthday party," he recalled.

"She said, 'Thank you so much for coming' and I said, 'Thank you for coming!'"

Now, we're all guilty of saying to a waiter "you too!" after being told to enjoy our meal; the slipup is so common it actually sparked a major TikTok trend.

But what (presumably) none of us have ever done is made the mistake in front of the Queen of Pop herself.

So, next time you are imagining your run-in with your favourite star, keep O'Connell's mistake in mind as a warning of just how easily even the stars can crumble under pressure.
