Dax Shepard denies he cheated on Kristen Bell with Julie Andrews' step-granddaughter

Dax Shepard has swiftly shut down rumours he cheated on his wife Kristen Bell.

On Thursday, the Daily Mail published photos of Shepard, 43, kissing a woman called Kayti Edwards, 41, -- the granddaughter of Julie Andrews' late husband, Blake Edwards.

In an interview with the publication, Edwards claimed she and Shepard shared a "passionate night" in 2009, while Shepard and Bell were dating.

According to the article, Edwards and Shepard first met in 2005. She left Hollywood but came back to LA in late 2009 and bumped into the actor at a party.

She said they took photos kissing each other at the party, and later slept together.

However, in an Instagram statement shared on Friday, Shepard revealed the photos were actually taken in 2005, before he started dating Bell.

"Hey Daily Mail, that photo is 13 years old, not 9," he captioned a screenshot of the article. "Also, Kayti has sold stories to tabloids about Matthew Perry, Jack Osbourne, Kid Rock, and now me. I look forward to her next one. Fingers crossed it's about my #1, Brad Pitt :)."

Comedian and actress Amy Schumer replied to Shepard's post, writing: "This chick sounds pretty fun. You care if I reach out?"

Shepard replied, "I think you would really enjoy yourself!"

Shepard began dating Bell, star of The Good Place, in late 2007. They became engaged in 2010 and eventually tied the knot at the Beverly Hills City Clerk's Office in 2013.

The couple have two daughters together: Lincoln, 5, and Delta, 3.
