Lisa Oldfield cancels divorce, David responds: 'She realised I won't be there to do her washing'

It certainly didn't seem like Lisa Oldfield was messing around when she announced plans to divorce David Oldfield on Wednesday night. But now, the Real Housewives of Sydney star has backtracked on her comments and says their marriage will remain in tact.

And the change of heart comes as no surprise to her stay-at-home hubby, who was the former One Nation deputy leader. 

"The reports are now suggesting she's changed her mind, and I suspect that's because she's realised I won't be there to do her washing," David, 58, told TheFIX.

The reports followed a meme Lisa shared on Instagram, which all but confirmed the split. "Kicking this #motherf---er to the #kerb #byedave #byefelicia," Lisa wrote alongside the divorce meme.

Lisa then backtracked her comments on Thursday morning in an interview with Kylie and Jackie O, saying her post was the result of her "second bottle of Bollinger" and followed a fight between the pair.  

Then, later that morning she followed up with another post -- a GIF from The Simpsons -- attempting to make light of the situation and writing, "Meet my divorce lawyer".

According to David, he has not spoken to the mother of his two children, Burt, 4, and Harry, 6, following her rogue Instagram posts.

"I haven't spoken to her today. I'm only going by what I've read in the media," David says. "It's not my desire to counter in kind because it's not in the interests of my children to become engaged in this sort of thing."

However, one thing David was keen to comment on was the top secret project he has coming up.

"Yes, we do have something coming but it won't eventuate -- or be as potentially as exciting  if we're not married," David says.

It's certainly not the first time Lisa has shared some brutal words about her husband, and from where we're standing, it won't be the last.
