David Foster's 35-year-old daughter trolls his engagement to Katharine McPhee, 34
Twelve years after first meeting on the set of American Idol, David Foster and Katharine McPhee are engaged, but it's not all roses and champagne for the new Hollywood couple.
While the news has attracted criticism due to the pair's age difference, recent divorces and longstanding friendship, one commentator close to home chose to make light of the situation.
Comedian Erin Foster poked fun at her 68-year-old father's relationship with the 34-year-old Smash actress, referring to McPhee as her mother.
The 35-year-old Barely Famous star commented "Mommmyyy" along with three heart emojis on a photo of the newly engaged couple holding hands on a boat in Italy.

After six years of marriage, Foster and Hadid divorced last year.
McPhee will be Foster's fifth wife. He's previously been married to B.J. Cook, Rebecca Dyer, and Linda Thompson.
Recently, daughters Erin and Sara Foster made fun of their parents' penchant for remarrying in TV comedy Barely Famous.
McPhee is also no stranger to marriage. In 2008, she wed manager Nick Cokas, 53, with Foster even performing at their wedding. Awkward!
The pair divorced in 2016 after McPhee was caught cheating with Smash director Michael Morris, 44.
Foster met McPhee when she was 21 on American Idol. He was a mentor to her on the show, and the pair developed a close friendship.
They became romantically linked last year after being spotted together on numerous occasions.

A month later, she opened up about her father's romance with the singer at an event in Malibu.
"She’s amazing," Erin Foster told People magazine of McPhee. "I really like her. She’s awesome."
She continued, "My dad is kind of a hopeless romantic, and Katharine’s awesome. We really, really like her, and we’ve known her for a really long time. And if he’s happy, we’re happy."
Not all of the proposal commentary was favourable. Fans are still reeling from Foster's breakup with Hadid, and made it pretty clear on Instagram.
