Celebs rally for Jay-Z's music streaming service launch

If anyone can gather this many celebrities in the same room, it's Jay Z and Beyonce.

In an ad for his music streaming service Tidal that Beyonce posted to her Instagram, Jay-Z got a little help from his superstar buds: Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Alicia Keys, Madonna, Calvin Harris, Jack White, Rihanna and more.

See who else showed up to plug Jay Z in the video above for the star's re-launch of Tidal.

So what does it all mean and why are so many of the music industry elite in attendance?

The participating stars had us all confused when they turned their Twitter profiles blue in support of the #TIDALforALL social media campaign.

During Tidal's launch event on March 30 in New York, it was announced that they're actually all co-owners of the streaming service.

The ad-free service, which promises lossless high-fidelity sound, would be a direct competitor to Spotify and Pandora.

But sorry folks, after your free 30-day trial is over, there's no ad-supported free plan.

The service costs US$9.99 per month for standard sound quality and US$19.99 per month for lossless high-fidelity sound quality.
