Patti Newton, 72, in hospital after a fall
Patti Newton is recovering in hospital after having a nasty fall.
On Tuesday, the 72-year-old shared the news with her fans from her bed at Frankston Hospital in Victoria.
"Had a fall and hit my head," Patti, who is married to television entertainer Bert Newton, captioned a photo of herself on Instagram. "I'm so Lucky after Scans no permanent damage, just a sore and glued head. Thank you to the #frankstonhospital they were just wonderful to us xx"
In true Patti spirit the entertainer gave her fans the peace sign, despite lying flat on her bed in a neck brace.
When someone left a comment on the photo telling Patti to "stop chasing the grand kids Patti," adding, "that'll do it every time", Patti responded with, "No, it was the new puppy, Billy!"
It's been a tough year for the Newtons. Earlier this year, Bert, 78, was admitted to Melbourne's Epworth Hospital following complications from pneumonia. He was also diagnosed with anaemia.
Because of his illness, he was unable to attend the Logies in April.
But Patti saved the day, attending in his place wearing a gold sequined jacket with Bert's face printed on the back.
"Even though Bert's not well I'm taking him to the Logies," she wrote on Instagram that night, sharing a photo of herself and Bert -- and the jacket.
The couple, who have been married 42 years, are parents to two adult children, Matthew, 40, and Lauren, 37.
