Angelina Jolie's eldest son is headed to a South Korean university and she's 'very proud'

Angelina Jolie's eldest son is about to leave the nest.

According to People magazine, high school graduate Maddox Jolie-Pitt, 17, will be attending South Korea's Yonsei University later this month to begin studying biochemistry.

"He got accepted to other universities but choose Yonsei," an insider told the publication. "He has been studying Korean language. He has lessons multiple times a week to prepare."

And Maleficent star Jolie is reportedly proud as punch of the son she shares with actor Brad Pitt.

"Mom is dropping him off in August," the source added. "She is very proud. She will miss seeing him as much, but he's ready."

According to the magazine, Maddox will be missing his brothers and sisters, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and 11-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

"He's very close to his siblings and they all hope to visit," the insider said.

Maddox's decision to study in South Korea isn't a huge surprise. Back in November 2018, the teenager and his 44-year-old mum were spotted visiting various campuses in Seoul while she was in the country on official business as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugee (UNHCR) Special Envoy.

At the time, the actress and humanitarian told People, "I'm nothing but proud. I look forward to all he will do."
