Andy Lee squirms on 'TODAY' when asked about getting engaged to Rebecca Harding

Andy Lee has addressed reports he's engaged to his girlfriend, Rebecca Harding.

On Thursday, the 37-year-old was on TODAY promoting his third children's book, Seriously Do Not Open This Book, when hosts Karl Stefanovic and Deb Knight asked him about some recent rumours.

Last week, Harding Instagrammed a holiday photo of herself and Lee in which her ring finger was cropped out, which left fans wondering if she was hiding an engagement ring.

Referring to the image, Knight asked Lee, "What's going on? What's with this photo?".

Lee responded incredulously, "Is that an engagement photo? It doesn't have any of the tropes. We don't have a girl that's holding her finger up like this with a ring on it. That's the engagement photo."

He explained he and Harding are working hard to avoid any speculation.

"Bec and I have been very conscious to make sure our hands are very much low in all photos not to give away anything," he told Stefanovic and Knight. "Could happen in the future. [I'm] very, very happy with Bec. I often get in trouble [by telling the media], 'No of course were not engaged' and then get home and [Harding asks] 'Why are you so vehemently saying no?'"

Stefanovic, who is often the subject of false rumours when it comes to his relationship with Jasmine Yarbrough, shot back, "Well that's the question, why aren't you engaged?"

"Karl, do you want me to come back at you with these questions?" shot back a laughing Lee.

Blushing, Stefanovic answered, "No. I do not".

Lee and his 27-year-old model girlfriend have been together for almost two years. They previously dated for 18 months before a brief split, but reunited in late 2016.

Last month, Lee jokingly explained the reason why he hasn't popped the question.

When asked on radio why he hadn't sealed the deal yet, he explained: "Bec has never told me her ENTER [Equivalent National Tertiary Entrance Rank] score," he revealed. "What she got when she finished Year 12. [Her] school results. So I said to her, 'If you want to be proposed to, we can't have any secrets. So the day you tell me your ENTER score is the day I'll know you're ready.'"

"So she still hasn't told me," he said. "She laughs it off, but I'm like, 'No, I'm deadly serious. I will not do anything like that until I know your score.'"
