#AmySchumerGottaGoParty: Twitter turns on Amy Schumer over her Beyonce parody
Rule No. 1 of Comedy: If people aren't laughing, then your joke probably isn't funny.
Judging from the reaction on Twitter, Amy Schumer's latest stab at humour isn't going over too well.
Over the weekend, the 35-year-old comedian posted a parody video of Beyonce's 'Formation' on Twitter, and not everyone was laughing.
In fact, some viewers thought the send-up - which featured Amy, Oscar winner Goldie Hawn, Oscar nominee Joan Cusack and comedian Wanda Sykes - was downright sacrilegious.
At issue: Beyonce intended 'Formation' as a serious political statement about black life in the US – and Amy and company turned it into a joke.
So far Amy hasn't commented directly at the furore, but she did allude to it in a cheeky Instagram post.
Amy's parody video was made in partnership with Tidal, the company of which Beyonce's husband Jay-Z is part owner. Apparently, that's all the confirmation she needs.
