Aaron Carter reveals he's expecting first child with girlfriend Melanie Martin: 'This is what we both want'

Aaron Carter has announced that he's expecting a baby with his girlfriend Melanie Martin.

The 'I Want Candy' singer, 32, told fans in an Instagram Live video on Wednesday that Martin is pregnant after flashing a positive pregnancy test.

"Obviously, I have a baby on the way," Carter said. "I'm going to be a busy father for sure.

"This is the official announcement — we're pregnant," he added.

Later, Carter confirmed the news to People, adding that the timing is perfect and he couldn't be more excited.

"This is what we both want," Carter said. "We both were trying for it. I'm just focused on the future and being a dad. I want to be a good dad. I'm focused, my music career has been doing really well, and touring, having my clothing line out, all that stuff I have going for me that isn't necessarily just music. Family is most important to me."

Carter debuted his relationship with Martin in January after posting a loved-up selfie of the pair.

"She loves me she loves me not, she woke me up from napping but I'm not complaining," he captioned the post.

In March 9, Carter debuted a face tattoo with Martin's name on his forehead and the relationship appeared to be going well.

But later that month, Martin was arrested over an alleged altercation between the pair on March 29. She was released from jail two days later.

Carter addressed the alleged incident on his Twitter account, writing: "You don't have to wait for someone to treat you bad repeatedly. All it takes is once, and if they get away with it that once, if they know they can treat you like that, then it sets the pattern for the future."

According to TMZ, Carter had "visible marks on his body" after the alleged domestic violence incident with Martin.
