4.05 p.m.: Although we're super-excited Matthew McConaughey won Best Actor for Dallas Buyers Club...

...let's all spare a thought for poor Leo, who missed out on an Oscar...AGAIN.

3:41 p.m.: Liza Minnelli looked spectacularly bored when she posed for a selfie with Ireland Baldwin on the red carpet... and she looked even more bored when she posted for a selfie with Ellen DeGeneres later in the evening. Was Liza sharing a joke with Ellen — or is that just how her face looks in selfies?

Could this be why Liza hates a selfie?!

3:14 p.m. The woman who sang 'Let It Go' on the Oscars stage is named Idina Menzel (it's pronounced more or less how it's spelled). But according to presenter John Travolta, her name is actually something more like "Adela Dazeem". Huh? Maybe that, uh, hairstyle of his is a little tight.

2:57 p.m.: While Ellen was off setting the record for the most retweeted selfie ever, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and his (new girlfriend... we wish) Emma Watson were setting the record for creepiest celebrity selfie ever. Uh, this isn't your most flattering angle, JGL...:

2:51 p.m.: Yup, Ellen's mega-selfie is official a meme. It not only set a record for most retweeted photo ever (beating the previous pic posted by Barack Obama), but also spawned this Spacey-tastic spin-off:

2:40 p.m.: Thanks to Ellen, our fave A-lister's finally got their pizza! Look at these happy little Tinseltowners...

2:15 p.m.: Stars flocked to Ellen to appear in the most star-studded selfie of all time (more faces would have fitted in if Bradley Cooper had longer arms). Shortly after Ellen posted the pic to Twitter, the social network crashed. Coincidence?

2.05 p.m.: Lady Gaga's found the bar!

2:04 p.m.: Did Jared Leto's look remind you of the prince from Beauty and the Beast? You weren't alone...:

1.45 p.m.: Ellen asks the Oscars audience if they want any pizza and pregnant Kerry Washington gives her this look below. With side-eye like that, we hope the food's on its way.

1:28 p.m.: Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Emma Watson teamed up to present the Gravity with the Oscar for best visual effects. Meanwhile, everyone on Twitter agrees they need to immediately be a real couple.

1.18 p.m Today, Pharrell sexy-danced with Lupita Nyong'o and Meryl Streep to his hit 'Happy'… and it made our day.

Bonus points goes to Amy Adams who almost suffered a nip slip for a good ol' fashioned shimmy.

Pharrell once again loses points for the return of his terrible GRAMMYs hat.

1:03 p.m.: Dallas Buyers Club just won the Oscar for best make-up and hairstyling. Incredibly, the film's entire make-up budget was a mere US$250.

12:52 p.m.:After her opening monologue, Ellen snapped the first ever selfie from the Academy Awards stage and shared it via her Twitter account with the hashtags "#Oscars #Blessed". Within minutes it was retweeted more than 60,000 (!!!) times.

11:58 a.m.: Has J-Law's choice of dress doomed her Oscar chances? The blog On Common Ground notes that no best actress winner has ever worn a red gown on the red carpet. Fortunately, Jen is nominated for the best supporting actress Academy Award this year — so maybe she'll dodge the curse.

11:52 a.m.: Jennifer Lawrence (already) took a tumble on the red carpet. Twitter's theory? She's drunk. Another theory? She's merely loveably clumsy.

11.45 a.m.: So Jared Leto IS "dating someone"… and it's Oscar nominee June Squibb (who at 84 is literally twice his age). Let's welcome our friend, sarcasm.

Chatting to Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet, the perfectly primped star told the TV host: "I just want to put the rumours to rest! We are indeed dating."

That is, before adding: "I've been having fun. I hope she is too."

How could she not be Jared? With ombre like that, we can't imagine anyone NOT having fun with you.

11.00 a.m.:Celebs… if you turn up on the red carpet together, we're all going to assume you're dating. Especially in the case of Kellan Lutz and Bond babe Olga Kurylenko!

10:30 a.m.: Hollywood legend Liza Minnelli could teach these young starlets a thing or two about how to make an impression, setting foot on the Oscars red carpet wearing head-to-toe blue.

Literally head-to-toe: the look even included a blue streak in Liza's hair.
