Mark Zuckerberg has announced that Facebook is working on a "dislike" button - but whether it will actually be called "dislike" is yet to be revealed.

"We have an idea that we're going to be ready to test soon, and depending on how that does, we'll roll it out more broadly," Zuckerberg said in a live stream Q&A session at Facebook headquarters in Menlo Park, California last night.

The Facebook CEO said users had demanded the feature for years but making something so "simple" was surprisingly complicated.

“Today is a special day because today is the day I can say we’re working on it and shipping it,” Zuckerberg said.

He said the site wanted users to have the ability to “express empathy”.

“Not every moment is a good moment.”

Zuckerberg did not elaborate on what form the button could take, but it will likely be designed to convey support or sympathy, rather than negativity.
