Harold Hamm, chief executive of Continental Resources Inc., was ordered last week to pay $368 million to his ex-wife Sue Ann Hamm by the end of the year, then minimum payments of $8 million each month starting in January.

She was also awarded the couple's marital home in Oklahoma and their ranch in California.

But her lawyer, Ron Barber, told Reuters that the payout was "not equitable", representing less than six percent of the couple's estimated $21 billion wealth.

"Sue Ann is disappointed in the outcome of this case. She dedicated 25 years as Harold's faithful partner in family and business,'' Barber told Reuters.

He said his client plans to appeal the court's decision.

Mrs Hamm, a lawyer and an economist, worked at her husband's oil firm at various times in their marriage and at one point managed the marketing department, according to court documents.
