Labor will ditch delivering the national broadband network via fibre to the node if it wins the next election.

In a speech in Melbourne, the opposition's communications spokesman Jason Clare said Labor would return to a fibre network instead of Malcolm Turnbull's policy of adopting the use of copper.

"If you vote for the Labor Party at the next election you will be voting for more fibre," he said on Wednesday.
