New data has revealed Australians could be set to snap up some of the best property bargains in years.

The huge price drops are now possible thanks to weaker demand and more listings.

"It depends on the price and so on but it is definitely happening in certain pockets," said 9News money editor Effie Zahos.

According to Corelogic, last weekend was the fifth busiest of the year to date for auctions. However, the lower clearance rates suggest we are heading towards a buyer's market.

"Sydney is one market where Corelogic is potentially saying could be in the buyer's favour," added Zahos. Melbourne and Hobart also fall in that category.
