Cyber attacks cost US up to $A153b in 2016

A White House report estimated on Friday that malicious cyber activity cost the US economy between $US57 billion and $US109 billion ($A80 billion and $A153 billion) in 2016.

The estimate was contained in a report by the White House Council of Economic Advisers on the economic costs of cyber threats.

The report quoted the US intelligence community as saying the main foreign culprits responsible for much cyber activity are Russia, China, Iran and North Korea.
