Cutting edge of tech on show in Las Vegas

Driverless cars, cutting-edge TVs and new ways to do household chores - all were on show at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Thousands attended the biggest technology event in the world, where billions of dollars worth of new gadgets were showcased.

Among them were electronics giant Samsung with a promise that their new generation of TVs would be sharper, wider and more affordable.

The low Australian dollar could affect a lot of prices for new electronics in 2015.

In good news for the truly tech-obsessed, there were also new looks at driverless cars and a range of household appliances - from coffee makers to washing machines - that could all be controlled from a mobile phone.
