Commonwealth Bank managers given incentives to direct customers to ATMs

Commonwealth Bank managers have been given financial incentives to direct customers to ATMs and away from tellers.
The incentives, which were introduced last year, give managers more money if customers use self-service facilities.
The news comes after the Commonwealth Bank doubled the daily limit for ATM withdrawals, giving customers even less incentive to speak with tellers.
Customers who visit the Commonwealth bank are now greeted by a “customer service specialist” who determines the client’s needs, the Daily Telegraph reports.
If the customer needs to withdraw an amount of cash under $2000, the employees will direct them to use an ATM.
Staff at the bank have been reportedly told they must encourage customers to use ATMs for transactions like cashing a cheque, cash deposits and withdrawals.
