Banned fish removed from sale in Tas

The Tasmanian government will consider issuing sanctions to Coles supermarkets after two outlets in the state's south were found selling banned products including uncooked Scottish trout.

Biosecurity officers on Monday attended the supermarkets and ordered that the trout, along with a raw Norwegian fish product, be removed from sale and recalled.

"Imported uncooked fish product is not permitted into Tasmania, so we can minimise risks and best protect the relative disease-free status of Tasmania's fish populations," Primary Industries Minister Jeremy Rockliff said on Tuesday.
