Days after making a public appeal for help catching his father's killer, a young Queensland man has been charged, accused of murdering his own father after taking out multi-million dollar life insurance policies in his name.

On March 9, Michael Martin Jr pleaded to the public for help tracking down those responsible for the death of Michael Martin Snr during a gruesome home invasion.

"My father did have a colourful past, but he didn't deserve that, and the innocent family members, we don't deserve it either," he said.

Martin Jr has since been charged with murder, with police claiming the 25-year-old killed his own father in a cleverly-staged home invasion at Murwillimbah in June last year.

He told police men had broken in, tied him up and hacked his father to death in the second attack on the 46-year-old's life in as many months.

During the first attack, Mr Martin Snr had been stabbed through the eye but survived.

Alleged hit-woman Jessica Honey Fallon, 21, was charged over the attack last month.

Police allege Martin Jr took out life insurance policies for his father worth millions of dollars.

He will remain behind bars until his next court appearance in May.

Police said more arrests are expected to be made.
