Young boy fatally struck in NSW driveway

A toddler has died after being hit by a car in the driveway of his home on Sydney's north shore.

Police say officers have been told the 20-month-old boy walked behind a vehicle that was reversing from the driveway of a Wahroonga home on Friday around 2pm (AEDT).

The boy was taken to Sydney Adventist Hospital with head injuries, before being taken to Westmead Children's Hospital, where he later died.

A crime scene has been established at the home, which was being examined by specialist forensic officers.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
