Police hunting two men after attempted carjacking in Yanchep

An innocent driver and his passenger have been caught up in a violent carjacking attempt in Perth’s northern suburbs.

Police say two men approached some people sitting in a car around 5.40pm yesterday.

One punched the passenger in the face before jumping in and punching the driver several times, pulling on the steering wheel while the car was moving.

The car crashed into a pole outside a bottle shop on the corner of Marmion Avenue and Village Row in Yanchep.

The men were later seen running out in front of traffic carrying stolen cartons of alcohol.

The two victims were not taken to hospital.
