Xenophon to talk with both sides

Independent senator Nick Xenophon doubts there will be a hung parliament after the federal election despite the close polls.

Nevertheless, he insists he would negotiate with both Malcolm Turnbull and Bill Shorten if neither party won an outright majority.

"I get on well with both of them and I negotiate in good faith with both of them but I still think the likelihood of a hung parliament is very, very remote," he told ABC TV on Sunday.
