Three workers burnt by scorching liquid metal at SA plant

Three men remain in hospital after being burnt by scorching-hot liquid metal at a factory north of Adelaide this morning.

Four workers at Adelaide Galvanising Industries' Cavan plant were splashed with 450-degree molten zinc after a beam fell into the substance just before 6.30am.

One man in his 60s suffered serious facial burns. He and two others were rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment.

Worker Dave Hisee was also hit by the liquid but emerged unscathed.

“My uniform took the full force of it, (I’m) good as gold,” he told 9NEWS.

The incident is now under investigation by SafeWork SA, which will look at exactly what went wrong and how it can be prevented from happening again.

The company says its priority is the welfare of those injured and their families.
