Work progresses on new energy policy

WHAT'S NEXT FOR NATIONAL ENERGY GUARANTEE?

* Public forum in Melbourne on July 2 to hear from industry and community on design of the NEG

* Energy Security Board is seeking feedback on the draft detailed design by July 13

* Final design to be considered by the COAG Energy Council in Sydney on August 10

* If states and territories endorse the final design, laws will be drafted

* Cabinet-approved legislation will be brought to the federal coalition joint party room for endorsement

* Laws will be brought to parliament for a vote by the end of 2018.
