Wooloworths has announced they will be lifting buying restrictions on all products except toilet paper nationally following a resurgence of panic buying in previous weeks.

Woolworths and Coles brought back limits nationwide two weeks ago after a spike in coronavirus news in Victoria saw people rushing to supermarkets to buy essential products.

"We are pleased to advise all product limits, except those on toilet paper, have now been lifted at Woolworths nationwide," Woolworths Supermarkets Managing Director Claire Peters said.

"We wish to thank customers for returning to their normal shopping routines over the past week.

"With demand moderating, there is more than enough stock flowing through from our distribution warehouses and into our stores to support all our customers' grocery needs.

"We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will not hesitate to reinstate product limits if needed."

"We thank customers for their patience and understanding while the limits were in place to help us manage increased demand in stores and temporary delays in our Victorian supply chain," the supermarket giant said in a statement yesterday.

"We ask that customers continue to buy only what they need and observe all safety and physical distancing measures in our stores."

Woolworths said it would "not hesitate to reinstate product limits if needed".
