Supermarket giant Woolworths is investigating after a number of customers reported their Everyday Rewards points had vanished from their accounts.

Many posted on Facebook that they were seeing hundreds of dollars worth of points they'd stockpiled for Christmas being used by other shoppers across the country.

"All my bank for Christmas points was stolen in another state," one person said.

Woolworths confirmed it was assisting some members who had fallen victim to unauthorised access to their accounts, but it is not yet known what has caused the issue.

The retailer also said it would be reinstating the stolen points.

Customers are being urged to make sure they have strong passwords, including numbers, capital letters, and special characters.

Other bits of advice to customers include logging out of your rewards account as soon as you're finished using it as well as downloading the Everyday Rewards app and turning on push notifications to allow you to instantly see suspicious transactions.
