Partner charged with murder after woman found dead at Sydney apartment

The life partner of a 67-year-old woman found dead in her south Sydney apartment has been charged with her murder.

Dawn Butterworth's body was found by a home nurse making a regular visit to the couple's unit in Penshurst yesterday morning.

Her long-term partner Allan Greentree had what appeared to be self-inflicted wounds to his arm.

Mr Greentree, 62, was treated by paramedics at the home at around 11am, before being taken to St George Hospital in a stable condition.

After he was discharged at around 4pm, he was taken by police to Hurstville Police Station, where he has now been charged with murder.

According to friends, Ms Butterworth’s health had deteriorated in recent months, and she had become very frail.

It is thought the victim may have been dead for several hours, and a source told 9NEWS she suffered a violent death.
