Woman tries to escape police by jumping into Gold Coast canal after car crash

A woman has been arrested after trying and failing to escape police at the scene of a Gold Coast car crash by jumping into a canal.

The woman and two men were caught up in the smash in Broadbeach about 9am today.

When police arrived at the scene, the woman resisted arrest and jumped into a nearby waterway.

She was eventually arrested and taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.

Police found drug paraphernalia in one of the vehicles after a search.
