Woman sexually assaulted during late walk

A woman has been sexually assaulted as she took a late night walk at Teralba, near Lake Macquarie in NSW.

The 45-year-old woman was walking in Lake Crescent about 10.50pm on Thursday when she was grabbed by a man and sexually assaulted, police said.

She was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to John Hunter Hospital for examination.

Specialist forensic officers have examined the scene and detectives have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
