Woman punched in the face by intruder at Sydney home

A woman has been woken by an intruder and punched in the face and upper body in her home in Sydney.

Police said the 37-year-old woman was in her Auburn apartment at about 9.50pm yesterday when she was attacked by the offender who then fled the scene.

She was taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment to head injuries and facial lacerations.

No arrests have been made.
