Police scour streets for clues in violent Adelaide hotel room murder

Police have scoured the streets of Adelaide today, desperate for clues in the violent murder of a woman in a hotel room.

Management at the Grand Chancellor Hotel discovered the 26-year-old woman's body after the hotel room flooded.

It is believed the woman, who is Asian in appearance, resided in Sydney and had only been in Adelaide a few days.

Police believe she may have been a sex worker.

“It is a possibility she was working in that industry,” a police spokesman said.

“We don’t know why this person was the victim of murder.

“We are still establishing why she was in Adelaide.”

A police spokesman said there were “obvious signs of violence” in the room and the bathroom had been flooded, also flooding the room below.

Major Crime investigators are reviewing CCTV footage.

Police are speaking to a number of people but do not have any suspects at this stage.

Police have also taken away two cars they say belong to "associates" of the woman.
