Woman indecently assaulted in Melbourne

A man has indecently assaulted a young woman on a suburban Melbourne street.

Police say a 23-year-old woman was walking through Thornbury when she was grabbed from behind and indecently assaulted.

The woman was able to fight off her attacker and raise the alarm.

A police search of the area failed to find the man.

The man is described as more than 170cm tall, caucasian and was wearing a black rain or spray jacket at the time.
