Woman, 69, charged with murder after allegedly stabbing her ex-husband in Mitcham

A woman has been charged with murder following the alleged stabbing death of her ex-husband at a unit block in Mitcham, in Melbourne's east. 

Authorities said they were called to an address on Mitcham Road just after midday, following reports of a stabbing. 

Harold Nolan, 72, died at the scene.

His wife, 69-year-old Renee Nolan, was taken into custody for questioning. 

She has since been charged with murder and faced an out-of-sessions court hearing a short time ago.

"Whatever has occurred today will be tragic," Detective Inspector Anthony Ceccino said earlier. 

Mrs Nolan has been remanded in custody and is expected to appear in the Melbourne Magistrate's court tomorrow.
