Woman finds 'maggot' in Aldi chocolate block
A Perth woman has found what she claims is a maggot in a block of chocolate she purchased from Aldi.
Mary, who did not wish to reveal her surname, told 9news.com.au she bought the dark chocolate from the Joondalup store on Saturday.
“I was cutting away until I saw a white thing moving against the dark chocolate, and yep it was a live maggot,’ she said.
“I only saw it as it was against the dark chocolate. If it was white chocolate (it) would have been a different story.”
Mary said she opened the rest of the packet and saw it was covered in “webbing”.
“I called Aldi on the Monday…since I kept the product and had my receipt, I was asked to go back into a store and get a refund.”
Aldi told 9news.com.au the larva was not a maggot, but an Indian Meal Moth.
"Our investigation has confirmed that this is an isolated incident," Aldi said in a statement.
"We have been in touch with the customer and as with all products, if the customer has an issue, we will offer a full refund."
