Woman charged on NSW boy's footpath death

A woman has been charged with negligent driving causing death after a six-year-old boy was struck and killed by a four-wheel-drive vehicle in Sydney's northwest.

The boy was hit on a footpath as he was walking with his mother and her two young nieces near Carlingford Public School in Carlingford on the morning of December 18 last year.

The boy died at the scene, his four-year-old cousin suffered a fractured pelvis and his 38-year-old mother was also injured.

The 46-year-old female driver of the Nissan Dualis was taken to hospital suffering shock.

Police say the Carlingford woman was interviewed on January 10.

On Tuesday she was issued with a court attendance notice for negligent driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

She will appear at Burwood Local Court on May 7.
