Woman 'robs bank before hitting truck in getaway attempt'

A woman has allegedly robbed a bank west of Brisbane, and led police on a dangerous pursuit before slamming into a truck.

Police say the woman threatened a 76-year-old woman in a Corinda shopping centre car park just before 10am today before stealing the keys to her Corolla and driving away.

Less than an hour later she allegedly threatened staff a Bendigo Bank branch in Lowood with a knife. CCTV obtained by 9NEWS shows a woman pulling into the car park and storming the branch with the weapon.

It's alleged she stole a sum of cash before fleeing again in the stolen car, driving on the wrong side of the road at high speed and narrowly missing other drivers in her attempt to escape.

The vehicle hit the tray of a truck near Old Toowoomba Road in Leichhardt.

Police arrested the driver at the scene.

A 35-year-old Ipswich woman has been charged with one count each of armed robbery, robbery with violence, threatening violence, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failing to stop.

She will appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court tomorrow.
