Wollongong workers chased by machete-wielding intruder

Three petrol station workers have been chased down by a machete-wielding thief in Wollongong.

The would-be robber entered the service station with the large knife concealed inside a sports bag just after 6.30pm.

There were three employees inside the shop at the time and once being confronted with the overwhelming numbers he attempted to chase the men outside, forgetting his potential loot.

“He was advancing toward me and I was thinking, ‘well if you want the money you’re going the wrong way,’” owner Jimmy Pavlevski told 9News.

Mr Pavlevski said a rush of adrenaline distracted him from the danger the armed intruder posed.

“You don’t realise until you go through the footage… how big that knife was,” he said.

The trio looped back around into the store once the man fled.

He remains on the run.
