Winter chill sweeps across Queensland with coolest morning since last year expected

Winter has arrived on cue in Queensland with temperatures across the southern and inland parts of the Sunshine State falling to single figures.
Brisbane is among many cities and towns in the bottom half of the state braced for their coolest mornings since last winter.
The capital is expecting a minimum of 9 degrees today for the first morning of winter - the coldest day since last August.
It will be cooler further inland with Ipswich expecting 6 degrees and the Darling Downs set for more frosts, after Oakey, Dalby and Warwick all recorded sub-zero temperatures on Wednesday morning.
Warwick's -2.7 degrees was the coldest minimum the rural city had weathered since August 2015, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
BoM forecaster David Bernard said a drier air mass had made for chilly mornings in inland areas from below Mt Isa.
