William and Kate to visit Uluru

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will travel to Uluru, one of Australia's most ancient sites, on Tuesday.

The pair will tour the popular sacred site.

The visit will be only their second night away from their son, who turns nine months on Tuesday, during their 19-day tour of Australia and New Zealand, with Prince George remaining in Canberra with his nanny.

Tuesday's trip to Uluru will mark Prince William's second official visit to the site in 31 years.

Prince Charles and Princess Diana brought then baby William to Uluru in 1983, and there have only been two other royal visits since then: Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia in 2005, and Crown Prince Willem-Alexander and Crown Princess Maxima of the Netherlands in 2006.

William and Kate will present graduation certificates to students of the National Indigenous Training Academy before being welcomed to country at the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre.

After tea, the Duke and Duchess will visit Uluru, taking a short walk along its base in the company of a local guide.
