Wild Oats XI wins Sydney to Hobart line honours

Wild Oats XI has claimed line honours in the Sydney to Hobart yacht race for a record eighth time.

Owned by winemaker Bob Oatley and skippered by Mark Richards, the 100-foot supermaxi crossed the finish line at Hobart's Battery Point in an unofficial time of two days, two hours and two minutes.

New American supermaxi Comanche was in second position, about 10 nautical miles behind.

Wild Oats also claimed line honours in 2013, 2012, 2010, 2008, 2007, 2006 and 2005.

She was well outside the race record of one day 18 hours and 23 minutes which she set in 2012.
