Wild chase through Brisbane's southern suburbs

A man has been arrested after allegedly leading police on a wild high-speed chase through Brisbane's south this afternoon.

Police initiated a pursuit in Beenleigh just after 3pm (AEST) after witnessing a white Hyundai running a red light, the Courier Mail reports.

The car narrowly missed pedestrians, cyclists and other motorists as it sped through several suburbs.

Officers backed off the car on the road but the police and Nine News helicopter kept the car in sight as it reached speeds of up to 150km/h.

The car came to a stop in a park at around 4.30pm, where the driver fled but he was later apprehended by police and placed under arrest.
